The list of feeds shows the data sources included on the map. If you click on a feed, you can turn that source's map markers on and off. If you like a feed, you can view it's feed page and favorite it to use in your own maps.
Click on the icons to see the stories or photos they're about in the box in the lower-left corner. You can also filter items on the map using the time-sliders on the right-hand side. Markers will appear and disappear depending on the time range you've selected. This is great for finding interesting items in a specific time period. Go ahead, give them a try, I'll wait...
